Hello and welcome to Hekla Persians. We have been breeding pet kittens for a little while (since 1995) and we have striven (and still strive) to breed Persian kittens who are:
· Well socialised
· Happy and healthy
· Loving with superb temperaments
· And who will be an integral part of your life.
We are not a large breeding cattery, as we only breed around 15 babies a year. We have our Black Boy – Aliskamvi Just Our Hero and two breeding queens – Strathern Tortellini and Strathern Jemima. Recently retired Champion Hekla Athena Rose’s Boy – Hekla Plum’s Young Hero has been kept as a future sire, to carry on the established Hekla line.
We live a simple life, dedicated to our felines. We spend a lot of time with them: playing, teaching them good manners, feeding them the right foods for maximum growth and vigour.
We believe that a pet cat is a long term commitment, thus we endeavour to give the best nurturing to our kittens so that they can live happy, healthy long lives with their new owners after they leave here. It’s what we do! To that end we vaccinate, neuter/spay, and socialise and toilet train our babies before they go to their new homes. Flea and worm treatment of course. Micro chipping can be organised with our vet but this is optional. We suggest this, though. NZCF Registration and Transfer of Ownership to the buyers’ name is also included in the price.

We like to keep in touch with our kitten buyers and hope that they do too. It’s always good to see how they change and grow and to get news of their progress. It’s also a good way in which to know if any problems arise and the best way in which to mutually resolve them.
We don’t keep our cats in cages, we only have our home partitioned off in sections for their well-being and happiness; so that we are always interacting closely with our felines.
So that’s us, at Hekla Persians. I am Maria Jensson and my husband is Asgeir Jensson and though I am the registered breeder with the NZ Cat Fancy, I couldn’t keep the Hekla Persians cat and kitten establishment as well as I always try to do, without his invaluable help.
